How did you become a sound therapist?
I studied with Elaine Thompson, Phillip Sterling (computer programmer), was present to assist with technical work with the computer. I then furthered my studies by learning from Elaine’s star student, Otto Haddad. He took the concept of our teachings and formulated his own wonderful combination of the techniques and technical work and making it work in a more simple and practical way to work. “Otto Sound Therapy” came to being.
Why did you choose this path?
Back in 2009/2010, I had the privilege of having a session at Aneera in South Africa, a lovely mum and daughter duo from Yorkshire in the United Kingdom. After my session, “I walked to the door and looked back at the setting and knew that one day I will be doing this” I had no idea that this would be possible for me. I was working in a well-established hospitality business and there was no way I knew how this would transpire.
Who do you hope to help?
Everyone and anyone who is open and that is looking for an answer to working with the self in the most gentle and non-invasive way. I open and facilitate the space and the sound does the work, there is no escaping the frequencies and vibrations.
What is your mission?
To produce an environment through unconditional love, honest, caring, loyal, and inspired motivation; enhancing a balanced life through peacefulness, happiness, trust, determination and independence.
“Opening a space for an altered consciousness to become the healing aspect within ones life”
Who motivates you?
These are mentors who have inspired me over the years.
My Si-Fu Cheyne my Tai-chi master, for his powerful silence and knowledge, who believed in me and my qualities.
My personal transformation teacher Royee Banai, for his magnificent flair and precision and passion, for seeing my determination through it all.
My Sharman, Regis, for his passion, work and love for the elements, great knowledge and power. We as the Andean community follow in a sacred lineage.
My Guru, Swami Shankaranda, for his dedication, knowledge, great compassion as a teacher and a leader in the community
What do you enjoy doing?
I love working with plants, potting them, saving them, seeing how they transform and also accepting what is when it’s not meant to be. Plants are living too and they inevitably have to die. Their patterns and shapes are so magnificent, it’s a miracle, it’s a beauty like no other, I enjoy going into great depth into the plant, seeing and understanding.
Great interest in Numerology, a passion for numbers and analysing. Understanding the meaning and depth of numbers, making sense behind the mystery.
Baking Sourdough bread - it’s a meditation and healing experience. Seeing the end product is such a satisfaction. The appreciation for my bread is so fulfilling.
Learning alternative healing, working and understanding a holistic way to life. Yoga, walking, exercising, raising the energy levels of the body. I am very keen to learn more, my newest learning is Tapestry, it’s a meditation and skill combined. I am currently working on a beautiful piece that was designed for me by Laure Buxton.
What personal benefits have you gained through sound therapy?
My greatest benefit is in the profound experience of working with so many clients, seeing and experiencing the magnificence of how the sound had an effect on them and how it uniquely resonates with each person and seeing how peaceful they are and keen for more. The way they feel after each session, ‘a reset moment’ and the curiosity of how the sound made them feel. It’s such a satisfying feeling.
